En Chiapas se resiste contra el despojo de los territorios, por los derechos colectivos, de los pueblos indígenas, por el derecho al medio ambiente y por los derechos de la naturaleza. Es una lucha tenaz y valiente de los pueblos indígenas y campesinos, de los pueblos rurales y urbanos. Mientras el gran capital pretende avanzar disputando los territorios y depredándolos, los pueblos defensores, con hombres y mujeres valientes, dan la vida para defendernos de los proyectos de muerte como son las grandes represas, los proyectos mineros, la extracción de gas y petróleo, los gasoductos, el fracking, los corredores comerciales trasnacionales, los proyectos de biopiratería y de despojo de los bienes comunes naturales, los monocultivos de palma de aceite o de transgénicos y otros proyectos de infraestructura que amenazan la biodiversidad, la soberanía alimentaria, los derechos humanos y colectivos de los pueblos. Sin embargo, pese a todo ello, también los pueblos, colectivos y organizaciones luchan por crear y sembrar alternativas, Alter Natos, esas nuevas formas de construcción de la vida local frente al capitalismo depredador.
En este contexto los Convocantes conmemoramos en el marco del Onceavo Aniversario luctuoso de Mariano Abarca el Segundo Premio a la Defensa Ambiental en Chiapas 2020 “Mariano Abarca”, con el propósito de agradecer, reconocer y visibilizar otras luchas colectivas y organizadas de quienes, con el espíritu sembrado por Mariano en los corazones de las resistencias, no cesan en su ímpetu por defender la vida, el medio ambiente y los derechos colectivos que son, a fin de cuentas, en beneficio de la Humanidad.
La entrega del Segundo Reconocimiento a la Defensa Ambiental en Chiapas será el viernes 27 de noviembre a las 10 de la mañana en Cafe Urbano, 2da Oriente Norta #447 Centro, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Chiapas México.

El 27 de Noviembre 2020, en el 11 Aniversario del asesinato de Mariano Abarca Roblero, se llevará a cabo la Conferencia de Prensa donde se entregará el II PREMIO A LA DEFENSA AMBIENTAL EN CHIAPAS “MARIANO ABARCA” 2020 a la organización del FRENTE POPULAR EN DEFENSA DEL SOCONUSCO 20 DE JUNIO (FPDS).
El “PREMIO A LA DEFENSA AMBIENTAL ‘MARIANO ABARCA”, reconocerá año con año a la comunidad, colectivo u organización del Estado de Chiapas, México, que con su lucha por la defensa de los derechos de la naturaleza defienden a su pueblos, y nos defienden a todas y todos, que dignifican la vida, que hacen que no perdamos la esperanza de que Otros Mundos son posibles.

Chiapas resists against the dispossession of the territories, for the collective rights of indigenous peoples, for the right to the environment and the rights of nature. It is a tenacious and courageous struggle of the indigenous and peasant peoples in rural and urban peoples. While big capital tries to advance by disputing the territories and predating them, the people, with braves men and women, give their lives to defend us from death projects such as large dams, mining projects, oil and gas extraction, gas pipelines, fracking, transnational trade corridors, projects for biopiracy and dispossession of natural commons, monocultures of oil palm or transgenic crops and other infrastructure projects that threaten biodiversity, food sovereignty, human rights and peoples collectives. However, despite all this, also the peoples, collectives and organizations struggle to create and sow alternatives, Alter Natos, those new forms of construction of local life in the face of predatory capitalism.
In this context, the Convocants commemorate the Second Recognition for Environmental Defense in Chiapas 2020 “Mariano Abarca”as part of the Tenth Anniversary ofmourningMariano Abarca, with the purpose of thanking, recognizing and making visible other collective and organized struggles of those who, donot cease to defend life, the environment and collective rights that are, after all, for the benefit of Humanity.
